Privacy policy
MunchScan (“the app”) is published by the operator of dexterity.works. This policy describes how the Android app handles information.
Summary
Your diary, scanned products, and label photos stay on your device. The app has no account, no advertising, and no analytics SDK. It uses the network when you look up a barcode on Open Food Facts.
Data stored on your device
- Diary entries (servings, times, daily totals)
- Cached product records from scans, OCR, or manual entry
- Photos you take of nutrition labels, until you leave that flow
We do not receive this data. Uninstalling the app removes it unless Android backup on your device copies app files.
Network use
The app requests internet access for barcode lookups you start yourself. Those requests go to Open Food Facts over HTTPS. The lookup host sees ordinary download metadata (IP address, user agent, the barcode) the same way any HTTPS request does. Your diary and label photos are not uploaded. Corrections you make on the confirm screen stay on the device.
Permissions
- Camera — scan barcodes and capture nutrition-label photos.
- Internet / network state — Open Food Facts lookups when you scan a barcode that is not already in the on-device cache.
The app does not ask for contacts, location, or microphone.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If a future version adds accounts, sync, or other collection, this policy will be updated before those features ship.
